An old school strain dating back to the 70s, later modified in the 90s, and still used today to update other strains. Ortega boasts an ancestry of two strong indicas. Recommended for the experienced indica smoker or for those looking for deep, relaxing physical effects - a feature of many indica strains but more extreme in Ortega. Ortega provides a powerfully strong high best used at night and, notably, leaves a clear mind the following morning.

Ortega Indica is a variety that we worked on in Switzerland in the 1990ʼs in a project called "Seedbank International", a cooperation between Dutch Passion and Ed Rosenthal. Ortega Indica goes even further back to the seventies/eighties and was developed in this era by the legendary breeder Nevil Shoenmaker. Seedbank International was happy to have the opportunity to work with this variety. The Swiss liberal approach towards Cannabis only lasted about two years, this meant that "Seedbank International" couldn't develop or continue. Dutch Passion however thought it wise to work further on this strain.

Mr. Nice Seeds Ortega was originally made a little different from Nevil when he was doing his Seedbank thing with Sensi...Shantibaba made a selection from an old school set of seeds that originated from NL#1 and NL#5...from mid 80s.

Additional Information

Dutch Passion Ortega Indica is a hybrid of Northern Lights #1 and an Indica, both dating back to the late seventies, updating retro varieties. This variety is a result of our Swiss experiments in the late nineties. This combination consists of two very strong Indicaʼs..... The stone is quite strong. Specific for Ortega is the fact that this stone does not have an after effect, which means that the day after a clear mind will be experienced.

Ortega Indica is special in that itʼs "stone/high" does not have a cloudy "morning after effect". In other words, the morning after smoking Ortega Indica, almost no cannabis effects are experienced any more. Smoke Ortega Indica and wake up with a clear mind. This is seldom the experience after taking sleeping pills or tranquilizers.
