Although the exact lineage and breeder is unknown, Afgooey is generally thought to be the fortunate result of a meeting between Afghani #1 and a Hawaiian haze cross. It can be hard to categorize the Afgooey experience as the effects of this strain seem to run the gamut from creative focus and simple mood elevation to extreme silliness and a complete inability to tie your own shoes. The key seems to be in the doseage so keep this in mind when you first try Afgooey but be warned, the sweet tropical flavors and scents can be hard to resist.

  • Indoor flowering time: 56 days - Strain Hunters Seedbank
  • Indoor yield: 900 g/m2
  • Harvest time: (Outdoor/Greenhouse) October

From Strain Hunters Seedbank: Until now a clone-only strain, we are the first to present it in feminized seeds, after successfully reversing it and crossing it onto itself (S1). The Afgooey is a very strong, vigorous plant. The leaves are thick and dark green, with overlapping leaflets. Short internodes, bushy structure, thick branches and wide stem are typical of this strain. The Afgooey can take high EC levels, and is very good for Sea of Green or for Scrog systems. It performs well in all types of medium, and can do great outdoors as well. The buds are pear-shaped, compact, dense, with medium to large calyx. The resin is very thick, and the plants get very smelly already in mid-flowering. Height: short plant (average internodal distance under 5 cm). Flowering Indoor: 8 weeks flowering time. Indoor Yield: yield up to 0.9 gram (dry and manicured) per watt per m2 (with 1000W HPS). Flowering Outdoor: 8 weeks flowering time. Outdoor Yield: very large plants can harvest over 1kg of dried, manicured buds.

History

Appearing first in the California medical scene, this strain has some serious old-school credentials… the original Afghani #1 is a cut grown in California since at least the 1980′s that was composed of several landrace Afghani hash-making varieties. As a result, this hybrid picks some Sativa vigor from the Maui Haze, but otherwise displays its Afghani roots — it’s a sticky, trichome-laden plant that is known for gumming up a grinder or two.

Additional Information

While the breeder of this Afghani #1 x Maui Haze is unknown, these stinky buds will coat your house or car with a pungent yet fragrant aroma that is intoxicating in its own way. The buds of this incredibly potent strain are medium-sized, light-green and so sticky that this bud will just clog up nearly any grinder. She takes on her indica parent's traits of having an 8 week flowering time. She also grows of average height (usually no more than 5 feet) and has sativa-like leaves and is recommended for growers with at least a few successful grows under their belt.

Afgooey is an Indica-dominant strain with sticky olive-green buds covered in a layer of sparkling trichomes. Euphoria is its most common and powerful effect, swiftly followed by feelings of laziness, commonly associated with true Indica or Indica-heavy strains. The strain produces a very powerful body high that leaves one happy and very hungry. Some users report feeling extremely focused while using Afgooey. The usual dry eyes and mouth accompany the use of this strain. Paranoia is widely experienced although a few users have described the paranoia as amusing. Others report feeling anxious. As with other strains, some people experience headaches. Afgooey is recommended for evening medicating. Due to the strong Indica effects of this strain, it is often used to ease chronic aches, pains and stiffness – like those associated with multiple sclerosis. Afgooey can also be used to alleviate nausea and induce hunger. Due to its sedating effect, it can bring relief to those who suffer from insomnia. It’s also been reported to ease suffering in people who experience chronic migraine headaches because Indica-heavy strains work as an anti-inflammatory. Because this strain's high is so euphoric, some people use it for relief of stress and anxiety. The Afgooey strain is a cross between Afghan #1 (Indica) and Maui Haze (Sativa), rendering it seventy percent Indica. Unfortunately, Afgooey is a clone-only strain with no seeds available.

With a relatively strong Indica effects package, Afgooey has the potential to be a “daywrecker”, but at small-to-average doses, it’s squarely in the functional Indica category thanks to the Haze influence. Buzzy, slack extremities, a fuzzy mental state, and a definite couchlock tendency forms the core of the Afgooey experience. It definitely lightens the mood in a goofy, slack-jawed kind of way, but is overall a “down” experience that is most conducive to seated activities not requiring a ton of attention. Shows benefits with strong relaxation properties (both mental and physical), mood elevation, sleep aid properties (especially at high dosages), anti-anxiety, ocular relief, and mild pain relief.
